Today on the Reschexpert Blog we want to look at a new feature that was added to the Department of Energy’s Rescheck Website, Rescheck Web. If you look on the right hand side of the screen you will see a graphic titled “What to do if you have been told to do a Rescheck.” Let’s take a deeper look.
The first thing that you want to do is click on the link and it will take you to page that is titled “Building Energy Codes Program” and then it says “So, You Need to do a Rescheck.” At the bottom of the screen is a play button.
When you click play an 8 minute video on Reschecks and Rescheck Web will begin. It starts with a description of Rescheck itself and the softwares that you can create a Rescheck with. These softwares are Rescheck Web and Rescheck Desktop.
The next item it discusses are which building codes you should be using and how you can locate the proper building code for your project. Then it moves on to entering your Project Location, Project Type, Conditioned Square footage, and the R value of insulation.
The video then takes you through all the different screens of the Rescheck Web software. These are the project screen, envelope, mechanical, and compliance. The video on this page gives in depth data on each of these pages and checklists that you can use to create your free Rescheck correctly and for free.
Rescheck hints. If there are special items the Department of Energy would like you to know about creating Reschecks then they will appear at the bottom of the video in a hint section. There are many items here that will save you plenty of time when creating a DIY Rescheck.
