Summary
Rescheck Web Site Unavailable
This episode of the Reschexpert blog we want to look at a shooting star or a Rescheck experience that we found while working on a Rescheck. This particular screen we had never seen before. Once it loaded onto our Rescheck creation computer we took a screen shot. This way we could share it with our Reschexpert blog readers, DIY Rescheck creators, and Do It Yourself Energy Code professionals. Take a look below as we share a rarely seen Rescheck experience found while using Rescheck Web.

To set up what happened to us let me tell you what we were doing. I had received the following.
IECC 2021 San Antonio Rescheck
This Rescheck had R 30 Roof
We were completing the Rescheck with R13 walls
The Rescheck we were working on had U.28 windows
The SHGC of the windows on this Rescheck was .23
The house was being built on a slab with an R value of 0
The home had 2 solid doors with a U value of .23 and .27
The home had 1 glass door and the U value was .31 and the SHGC was .21
Once we received the plans we printed off a full size set of construction blueprints and wrote down the information above. We determined that the IECC energy code that should be used for this Texas Rescheck was IECC 2021. Now that we had all the relevant information to complete the Rescheck we moved over to the electronic side of the Rescheck completion process.
This particular Rescheck would need to use IECC 2021. Rescheck Desktop does not include IECC 2021 so we determined quickly that using Rescheck Web would be the method we would use to show compliance to IECC 2021. We navigated to the Rescheck Web homepage and received this message.
“Sorry that the Rescheck Web site is unavailable”
“The Rescheck Web site that you are trying to visit is undergoing maintenance”
“Rescheck Web services will be restored soon”
“Rescheck Web by the Pacific Northwest Laboratory”
“Questions? Contact the Rescheck Web Help Desk”
“Rescheck Web Help Desk Website”
“Rescheck Web Help Desk Phone Number”
“Rescheck Web Help Desk Email Address”
Now stumped on how to complete the rest of our Rescheck we decided to work on our next Rescheck so we did all the calculations by hand. By the time we returned to Rescheck Web in about 4-6 hours the site was back up and operational so we completed both IECC 2021 Texas Rescheck and IECC 2018 New York Rescheck.
If you experience a visit to Rescheck Web and it is down for maintenance here are some good tips to keep moving along with your project:
Stay calm, getting frustrated helps no one
Go do something else. Take a break, eat a snack, and check the Rescheck Web homepage in an hour or so. Most times Rescheck Web Maintenance is brief and will be back shortly
Also most times Rescheck Web is scheduled during off hours like nighttime, Federal Holidays, or over the weekend so that the fewest amount or Rescheck Users, DIY Rescheck creators, and Do it Yourself Rescheck Energy Code experts are affected.
Use Rescheck Desktop. This will work if you are using older codes like IECC 2009 Rescheck, IECC 2012 Rescheck, or IECC 2015 Rescheck. If you need IECC 2018 Rescheck, IECC 2021 Rescheck, or IECC 2024 Rescheck you will need to wait until Rescheck Web comes back online.
Work on your next Rescheck while you wait. We were able to take an IECC 2018 Rescheck and work on the paper blueprints while we waited. Then when the Rescheck Web homepage was back up from maintenance we entered the data for both projects. Total time lost on theses 2 Rescheck Web projects was less than 5 minutes and we had both Reschecks completed in a timely manor.
Thanks for reading the Reschexpert blog. If you are experiencing errors on Reschecks, Rescheck Web, or Rescheck Desktop then we can help. Email PDF plans, jobsite address, and square footage to service@rescheck.info and we will get your online Rescheck form taken care of.
